Overview

Based on reportage, 'The Drought Ridden Upland' draws on the life of agricultural scientist Li Like. In the 1980s, he stepped down as vice president of Shaanxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences and settled with his family on the arid Weibei Dry Plateau. He overcame hardships, popularized dry-farming techniques and conducted in-depth experiments, sharply raising local wheat output. Protecting grain through science, the film showcases agricultural scientists’ noble commitment to the land and the public.
